Evelyn Cervantes
BIOGRAPHY:
Evelyn Cervantes (she/they) is a Mexican-American Social Service Worker and dedicated change agent with over a decade of experience in community settings. Evelyn’s career has been driven by a commitment to creating access and opportunities for communities of color, youth, and families, both in urban and rural areas across the United States and Central America.
With a background as a sexual health educator, returned Peace Corps Volunteer and a recent Gilman Scholar, Evelyn has utilized her understanding of identity politics to support individuals who have experienced interpersonal harm and sexual violence. In their current role as Director of Community Engagement at WIP, Evelyn focuses on providing holistic support and driving systems change that prioritize justice and equity for people engaging in the immigration system.
In their free time, Evelyn enjoys exploring their garden, spending time with her family and taking long sunset walks with her two dogs Balto and Kumo.
