Laura Rosemary Rojas
BIOGRAPHY:
Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Laura represented indigent clients charged with crimes at the Miami-Dade Public Defenders Office for just over a decade. While at the Public Defender’s Office, her cases consisted largely of clients diagnosed with major mental illnesses and juveniles charged as adults- including the resentencing of juveniles sentenced to life without the possibility of parole following the United States Supreme Court’s decisions in the Miller and Graham cases.
Laura’s interest in immigration law is the result of many factors — growing up in a city largely populated and governed by immigrants, marrying an Ecuadorian immigrant, and also representing many immigrants in the Miami-Dade County criminal courts. Laura began as a volunteer attorney representing immigrants in asylum matters in 2021. In 2023, Laura joined John, Maggie, and Karin, co-founding Wasatch Immigration Project, and feels lucky to be a member of this team!
Laura enjoys dancing, reading, yoga, skate skiing, and desserts of all sorts (paired with a hot cup of coffee)!
